History

The beginning of our journey

The Oldenburger Möbelwerkstätten GmbH was founded in the North German town of Dinklage in 1953. It launched its own furniture line marketed as “IDEE-Möbel-Programme”.

Oldenburger gained the first glimpse of what was to become its speciality in the 70’s, while entering the market with the production of design furniture for distribution companies like WK Wohnen, Christine Kröncke and Ars Nova.
The next chapter of Oldenburger’s success story was written in 1985 when it began producing boutique fittings for the outlets of apparel retailer Etienne Aigner. Large-scale showrooms in Paris, New York, and Hong Kong have been constructed, produced, and installed by Oldenburger.

A significant business area is interior fittings for mega-yachts and cruise liners. In 1988, Oldenburger  lead the proposals for the interior fitting of a cruise liner and was honoured with the challenge of Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Northern Germany.

This great opportunity for Oldenburger to apply its craftsmanship to produce high-end interiors for a cruise liner was followed-up by a commission to create fittings for a private yacht, the Golden Odyssee, at the Blohm + Voss shipyard for which Oldenburger has been the general contractor. Since then, Oldenburger has positioned itself well in this particular market niche. The plant in Dinklage has continued to grow in step with the company’s portfolio.

Since 2009, Oldenburger flexibly adapted its company structure officially to accommodate its exceptional portfolio. These subsidiaries emerged out of the parent company:

  • Oldenburger Yacht Interior GmbH und Co. KG
  • Oldenburger Shop Interior GmbH und Co. KG
  • Oldenburger Aircraft Interior GmbH und Co. KG

In doing so, the company has since then become a prime address for highly exclusive interior fittings of super-yachts, shops, villas and aircraft.

The general management is conducted equally by the proprietors Albert Kamphaus and Edgar Schumacher.
