Soaring to New Heights in Germany

It's an exhilarating feeling – producing exquisite tailor-made interiors for super yachts, private jets and exclusive retail stores the world over.  Successfully completing such innovative projects has earned us an excellent international reputation, of which we are proud. Enabling us to realise these projects in Germany are our 240 employees spread across our two modern locations with state-of-the-art technology and machinery in Dinklage, together with 110 employees at our Chinese subsidiary in Shanghai.

History

The Oldenburger Möbelwerkstätten GmbH was founded in the North German town of Dinklage in 1953. The company's history began with the launch of its own furniture line, which was marketed under the name of "IDEE-Möbel-Programme". Oldenburger gained the first glimpse of what was to become its speciality in the 70s, as it entered the market with the production of designer furniture for distribution companies such as WK Wohnen, Christine Kröncke and Ars Nova.
The first interiors for boutiques of the fashion label Etienne Aigner in 1985 opened a further chapter in the successful company history. Oldenburger produced and installed large showrooms in Paris, New York and Hong Kong.
Producing interiors for super yachts became one of the company's most significant product areas. In 1988, Oldenburger presented its first proposal for the interiors of a cruise liner, and was honoured with the challenge by the Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Northern Germany. This was a great opportunity for Oldenburger to prove its craftsmanship and know-how in producing high-end interiors for a cruise liner. Subsequently, Oldenburger were commissioned to create interiors for a private yacht, the Golden Odyssee, at the Blohm + Voss shipyard. This was the first time Oldenburger competed as general contractor in this domain. Since then, Oldenburger has positioned itself well within this particular market niche. The plant in Dinklage continues to grow and rise to each new challenge.

Wood Works

It is essential for our work that we understand our materials completely: we need to know their characteristics, their strengths and weaknesses, how they work in new contexts, and how to unleash their potential. We, as masters of the craft, excel in the creative handling of natural wood – despite the continuous advancement in this field – and are continuously fascinated by its aesthetic and functional possibilities. As such, we take particular pleasure in being measured against the highest standards.
